Therapy for Asian Women Navigating Culture & Expectations

You don't have to keep explaining yourself or living for others.

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), CRPO · Receipts provided for insurance reimbursement · Virtual & in-person sessions available

Hi, I'm Cassandre. As the daughter of Chinese and Vietnamese immigrant parents, I understand what it's like to feel torn between honoring your family's expectations and honoring your own needs.

I went to therapy myself when my family wasn't happy about it, because I had to ask: who do I want to be in 10 years? Through therapy, I unlearned cultural expectations, redefined success for myself, and now I feel lighter and free to live life on my own terms.

That's the journey I help my clients take too.

Daughter of Chinese & Vietnamese Immigrants

I became a therapist because I've always been curious about people — not just what they've struggled with, but how they survived through their struggles.

Growing up in an Asian immigrant household, I learned early on the impact of leaving things unsaid. Sacrifices, achievements, and success were highly valued. But vulnerability and expressing emotional needs? That wasn't modeled much.

I understand the internal conflict that comes from loving your family but also feeling disappointed or misunderstood by them. The tension between who your parents want you to be and who you actually are. That's the work we do together.

    I Specialize In

    Anxiety & Overthinking

Manage the constant internal tension, worry, and mental loops that keep you from being present.

    Generational Trauma

Heal from unresolved pain passed down through family systems — resentment, shame, people pleasing, and high-functioning anxiety.

    People Pleasing & Boundaries

Learn to set boundaries without guilt, even within cultural contexts that make this feel impossible.

    The Operational Manager Role

Stop managing everyone's emotions and expectations. Put your own needs first without the crushing guilt.

    Immigrant Family Dynamics

Navigate the unique pressures of growing up between cultures, managing family expectations, and honoring both your parents and yourself.

    Disconnection from Authentic Self

Rediscover who you are beneath all the roles you've been playing for everyone else.

    My Therapeutic Approach

    Internal Family Systems (IFS)
    Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
    Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
    Trauma-Informed Care
    Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I view therapy through an IFS lens, which means we see you as a person carrying many different roles or 'hats' — the critical part, the insecure part, the part that feels shame, the part that feels angry. We explore each of these roles, what they're trying to protect, and how they intersect.

I'm down to earth and warm. I meet you exactly where you are, as you are. My priority is that you feel safe in session while gently challenging you when needed. Culture isn't just background detail in our work — it's central to understanding who you are.

    What Progress Really Looks Like

    Two Things Can Be True

    What Healing Actually Looks Like

Healing isn't linear. You're going to have good days and bad days.

I had a client who was able to leave an abusive relationship — blocked her partner, removed herself completely. That took immense courage. A couple weeks later, she reached out to him again because she was lonely.

She came to session frustrated with herself: 'I can't believe I went back.'

But here's what I saw: Earlier in our work, she didn't even recognize she was in an abusive relationship. Now she could name it, remove herself from it, AND catch herself when she went back.

That's healing. Both moments were progress.

Your journey won't be perfect. But you'll start catching yourself. You'll start choosing yourself. And over time, you'll build the life you've wanted for so long.
